I Love My Digital Camera

I first began taking pictures with my 1965 model Polaroid camera. I could not adjust for brightness, sharpness, or motion. I could only take 10 pictures or less and the camera didn't provide for a negative. During my military tour in Germany my brother in-law surprised me with a gift. The gift was a 35mm camera which included a nice lens and carrying case.

I didn't use the camera for a few years until I met a good friend of mine. My friend invited me to his home one day and I noticed these beautiful photographs on his hallway walls. One of the pictures was a beautiful sunset over the downtown marina in my town. One of the other pictures was a red, full of shiny chrome, 1957 Chevrolet. I asked him about the pictures and he explained that he took the photographs with a 35mm camera. He became interested in photography and took a couple of junior college courses in photography. The photographs displayed on his walls were awesome. He actually presented me with an enlarged framed photograph of the 1957 Chevrolet. I wanted to take beautiful photographs like his.

I dug my camera out of storage and pulled out the instruction booklet and began taking some nice photos. I later purchased a 5 megapixel digital camera. It was one of the best purchases of my life! The digital camera can store many images digitally in several different ways; an internal non-removable type of storage, a floppy disk, a compact flash card, a smart media card, or a memory stick. These types of storage media replaced film. You can actually store hundreds of pictures depending on the size of your digital media card or other storage media. A 2-4 GB media card can hold 500-1000 pictures depending on how you set the resolution.

Once taken, the images can be downloaded to your computer and used as a file attachment to an e-mail message or printed on special photo paper. The digital camera has increased in popularity recently because there is so much completion and lowered prices. Digital cameras are comparable to a 35 mm camera in price without the extra cost of purchasing or developing film.

A digital camera is similar in nature to a Polaroid camera because the picture is instantly available for viewing and use by the photographer. Digital cameras also have video capability. You set the camera for video and press the button. Short movie clips can be made instantly. When you download the movie clip it takes up more space on your storage media. If you want to email it to a friend you might have problems because the file size is too large to submit as an email. Don't film for long periods of time because the size of the file increases the longer you film. You can make some interesting clips that are a couple minutes in length. Just use your imagination and you will be surprised by what you can create.

Digital photography is easy and there are numerous cameras on the market today at reasonable prices. There are many good digital camera choices so do your homework and acquire a camera that fits your digital camera needs. Most of all have fun with your digital photography.
